Reset

You’ll always miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
~Wayne Gretzky

Reset
Wouldn't it be great if you had a reset button you could press from time to time. The thought of being able to give yourself a "second chance" or another way to try something again is exciting. What would you do differently? Who would you have around you? How would the situation turn out with the knowledge you have now?

Guess what?  You do have a reset button!  It's called a new day.  Each time we wake up in the morning is another day to start anew, to try something again or to do something differently. You are never stuck, despite how you might feel.  Each day brings with it a possibility to open new doors, meet new people, try new things and above all, to be fearless and just go for what you want. What a concept and what a way to start steering your life in the direction you choose.  Happy Reset Day every day!

It's Not Personal

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
~Oprah Winfrey

It's Not Personal
Nine times out of ten, something said to you or done to you is not personal.  Let's repeat that - it's not personal.  You might take it that way but the reality of a situation, when you remove your emotions, is that it truly wasn't aimed at you. Now it's tricky to navigate because at the surface it feels like it's a personal attack but the beauty of learning this lesson is being able to remove yourself from the emotion when it's happening.  When you can see a situation for what it really is, which is usually that other person displacing their feelings upon you, you will stop absorbing that persons emotions, you will stop letting their outburst ruin your day and you will stop feeling like the world is out to get you - because it's not!

If you can stop taking everything so personally, you also stop the drama.  By doing this you open your heart to truth, to love and most of all ~ to peace.

Trust

Trust is letting go of needing to know all the details before you open your heart.
~Author Unknown

Trust
Sometimes it's so hard for us to trust.

Trust that we are exactly where we should be.

Our minds race all day long ...
        How did I get here?
I thought I would be in a better  place by now?
Why doesn't my life look how I planned it to be?
How come I can't shake this feeling of restlessness?

And as our minds race, we no longer are present in the moment. We no longer see the beauty of where we are, the lessons all around us and the timing of the universe. The more we wish things were different, the more we get stuck. The more we try and control that which we can't, the more nothing changes in our favor. It's time to surrender.  Surrender your burden, your worry, your guilt, your feelings of unworthiness, your troubles all over to the universe. Lay them down and walk away.

Sometimes the only way to move forward is to trust in life...
Trust that it ultimately knows better than you.
Trust that it can open doors and paths you never knew existed.
Trust that where you are is giving you tools for the next steps in your life.

The hardest thing and yet the most miraculous gift you can give yourself is trust.  Try wrapping that up as your own personal gift to yourself this holiday season.

Full of Thanks

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.
Have you used one to say "thank you?"
~William A. Ward

Full of Thanks
Do you notice how many times a day you say negative messages to yourself?  Any of these sound familiar:

  • life is just so hard
  • will it ever get better
  • how much more can I take
  • I am just so stressed
  • why doesn't anyone understand
  • I'm always broke
  • why doesn't anyone listen
Well if these kind of messages run through your head every day then guess what - this is what you will be constantly creating for yourself.  It's as simple as that.  You are not creating the space for abundance to come in when you are constantly filling it with the messages above.

What do you do?  Change it.  When you wake up in the morning, before you grab your phone or even open your eyes fully, list at least 2 to 3 things your heart feels full of thanks for.  Maybe it's the warm bed itself, the person sleeping next to you, the sound of the baby monitor, the phone call you received that made you smile, the co-worker that brightened your day, the meaningful conversation you had, the dollar you found on the street or snuggling with your puppy.  Before you go to bed at night, do the same thing.  Being thankful is a practice, just like brushing your teeth.  If you don't do it, you end up stinking!  So start practicing having a heart full of thanks and see what that does to improve your life.

Make A Difference

It's easy to make a buck, it's a lot harder to make a difference.
~Tom Brokaw

Make A Difference
Life is short.  We've all heard that before.  So what have you done to make a difference?  The past few days we all reflected on that which we are thankful for whether it was family, friends, situations, particular items or certain miracles.  Do you think your name was on anyone's thankful list?  If not, what can you do to change that.  You are meant to be greater than your wildest dreams and that includes making a positive difference in the lives of others.  Whether it's by holding the door open, buying a stranger a cup of coffee, stopping by a friend's house just because or reaching out to someone that's been on your mind, do something positive today.  Don't wait for tomorrow for that is guaranteed to no one.  Take a few minutes out of your day to brighten someone else's ... and don't stop there, make it a daily habit.

Judgement

Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up.
~Jesse Jackson

Judgement
Judgement is everywhere.  We judge how people live, what they eat, what they wear, how they speak, where they are from, where they are going, how they look, what their relationship is about, their decisions, and the list goes on and on and on.

We can all get swept up into the judgement.  Whether it's judging our friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors, entertainers, politicians or even worst yet ~ ourselves.

But how much do you really know about someone else's "story".  Are you privy to all the happenings in their lives?  Do we know every experience they have been through that have brought them to this place?  Do we know every hurt, pain, heartache, joy, love, fear and happiness that has guided them to this very point?  Probably not.  More importantly, do they know ours?  Definitely not.

So why do we judge? Is it normal because judgement seems to be around us every single minute from magazine covers to Facebook posts.  The challenge is to hold up a mirror to ourselves when judgment starts.  Why are we forming an opinion about someone or something we know little about?  And why are we so uncomfortable in our own skin that we need to do that?

Understand that the only judgement that truly effects us is our own.  Judgements are tiny mirrors reflecting back to each one of us what we need to work on in our own lives.  As you start to become more careful with your own thoughts and treat yourself like the worthy person you are, judgement starts to fade away.  The challenge is to start being aware and healing your own soul before you point the finger at anyone else.

Listen

You can hear the footsteps of God when silence reigns in the mind.
~Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Listen
Life tries to get your attention in many ways. It usually shows up as a gentle whisper, something that makes you pause and go… huh, well now! We usually just shake it off and continue throughout our day. We become masters of pushing through, no matter what we feel, how we feel or when we know we should be hitting the pause button a bit more.  When we ignore these whispers, life shows up in a bigger way to get our attention. It's about that time that we go, wow - ok but I will get to that later! If we ignore what life is trying to say to us, it eventually will make you have to stop and listen when the brick wall comes tumbling down right on top of you. Don't wait for this to happen. Listen to the whispers.  Pay attention when life is showing you another path to go on or something you need to be aware of! When the brick wall comes down on top of you, it forces you to pay attention but you don't have to let it get to this point. Listen to life when it first starts to tug at your sleeve.

Quality

Day, n. A period of twenty-four hours, mostly misspent.
~Ambrose Bierce

Quality
We can be so rushed to get our lists done that we are more concerned about quantity than quality. We measure our days in how much we accomplish and check of our lists rather than the importance of the conversations we had or the lives that we touched. It's time to throw our lists away or at least only pick the top two items we need to get done, not the 25! Lists are just that - a list! They are not people. Finding the balance between getting "stuff" done and being an engaged and active participant in life is key. It's time to stop paying attention to time and start paying attention to life.

Cleanse

There is a wisdom in the body that is older and
more reliable than clocks and calendars.
~John Harold Johnson

Cleanse
Its' time to rid your mind, body, soul and life of toxins. It's time to get rid of everything that no longer serves you.  It's time to cleanse your life so that you can start anew. Take an honest look at what areas of your life are not bringing you peace and joy … and cleanse them! If you aren't feeling healthy, stop sabotaging your body.  If your friendships are no longer supportive, release them. If your home feels like it's closing in on you, make donation bags and get rid of them. If you are feeling overwhelmed, take 5 minutes to quiet your mind. If you are feeling stuck, dance it out. Listen to your soul, it will tell you what you need to cleanse in order to feel at peace and whole again.

Healing

The best students get the hardest lessons.
~Iyanla Vanzant

Healing
When there is an area of your life that is creating discomfort, pain, or stagnation, the only way to heal it is to walk through it. By stuffing it down, ignoring it, being in denial about it or just plain wallowing in it and staying there will not heal it. The only way to do that is to allow yourself to see and feel the truth about it. To embrace the pain, the heartache, the "it was not supposed to be this way" feeling and move through it. By acknowledging what you are feelings at the root of the problem, well then is when true healing will start to take place. The only way to lift the burden off of your shoulders is to put it in your arms, with all it's weight and pain, and look at it for what it is, where it's coming from and how it has kept you small. Then let it go - put it down and walk away.  True healing will occur when you can do this. The only thing you need to keep is the lesson, nothing else.

Enough

I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Psalm 139:14

Enough
When you look into the mirror, what do you see?  Do you go straight to all of your flaws and imperfections? Do you start berating yourself with harsh words about your weight, your hair, your skin, your eyes, your nose, your lips, etc., etc., etc.! Take a closer look through your eyes though - really lean in and look.  What do you see? How about a person that had endured heartache, pain, illness and is still standing strong. How about someone who selflessly gives to others. How about someone who makes it a point to make other people smile. How about someone who is caring beyond measure and has impacted other people profoundly just by being them. How about someone who is loved, who is whole, who is brilliant, who is creative and who is unstoppable. That's what you should see when you look in the mirror. Never sell yourself short and if need be, change that reflection to truly show you the wondrous being you are!

Self-care

Always put on your own oxygen mask first and then assist the child with theirs.
~airplane safety instructions

Self-care
Most of us put a lot of care into other people or other things.  The time, effort and energy we exude making sure other people are taken care of or their needs are being met can feel never ending. At the end of the day we have run out of steam and put our own needs off for the next day. The problem is that they same thing happens every day and your needs are always skipped over. That might work for a short amount of time but prolonged "ignoring" will only cause you more harm than good. You must care for yourself. You must listen to your body. Do not put off for one more day making that Dr.'s appointment, signing up for that art class, booking that trip, making those dinner reservations or just allowing yourself to stay in your pajamas all day long! You can't constantly give to the world and not recharge your batteries. You can't be on the go all of the time and not be making sure your own body is running at its optimum level. The best advice in life comes from the airplane safety instructions; take care of yourself first so you can help others!

Perception

Sometimes we must unfocus our way to clarity.
~Terri Guillemets

Perception
How you view the world is all based upon your lens of perception.  How you take in information, how you interpret what people say and how you look at a situation is all through a viewpoint of experiences. This information gets packaged by your brain in order to make sense to you and your world. To another person though, the exact same situation can have a much different feel since it's being package through the lens of their own experiences. One situation can have several different perceptions.  Which one is right?  Well maybe all of them! Perception is just that - how you perceive something.  It might have some facts sprinkled in but it also has your own take on a situation. Remember the next time your perception clashes with another what is really going and try to see things from another angle.  It just might make your lens that much bigger!

Begin Again

The only courage you ever need is the courage to live the life of your dreams.
-Oprah Winfrey

Begin Again
Life is so amazing. Think about it - with every sunrise is a chance to begin again. What happened yesterday does not need to bleed into this brand new day. This is a day to change directions. This is a day to try something new. This is a day to walk with your head held high because there is only one you and the world is a better place because you are in it. This is a day to take one step in a different direction, one that will bring you closer to living in a place of authenticity. This is a day to look at everything and everybody as if you were seeing them for the first time. Life is truly amazing. Allow yourself to bask in the glow of a new beginning. The possibilities are endless. What will you make of today?

Shut Up & Dance

Today's DP is dedicated to my favorite dance partners!

There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good.

~Edwin Denby

Shut Up and Dance
Sometimes, rather most times, we take life way too seriously.  We go throughout our days worrying, stressed and running from one obligation to another. It is during these times to remember what's most important ~ to dance! There are times when there are no more words to say, no more actions to take, but all you should do is zip the lip and dance. You do not have to be the worlds best dancer nor do you have to dance with others being around you. But you do have to dance. You have to shake out all of the pent up worry and stress. You need to let go of the burden. Moving around, dancing, laughing, being silly and just plain having a good time, if even or only 30 seconds, will bring you back to center.  Like the song says, sometimes we need to shut up and dance!

Power

You've always had the power my dear, you had it all along.
You just needed to learn it for yourself.
~Glinda the Good Witch in Wizard of Oz

Power
You are powerful.  It's as simple and as profound as that. You've always had the power within you to make the necessary changes in your life. Instead of looking to external sources all of the time, turn inward. You are not a victim of life, you are a participant.  You choose every single day whether you are going to be fully present, engaged and powerful or whether you are going to leave the choices up to others. Nothing is stopping you ~ well but you. It's your choice whether you make a u-turn, to yield, to stop or to move forward. Being the powerful being that you were meant to be is not being selfish. It's being true to the gifts and talents that were given to you at birth. It's time to own your power.

Fall

Of all the seasons, autumn offers the most to man and requires the least of him.
~Hal Borland

Fall
New seasons usher in new possibilities. Fall brings with it crisp new beginnings and winds of change. It also shows us lessons to adapt in our own lives. In the fall, trees change their color and shed their leaves to adapt to the changing environment. So must we. What do we need to change in our lives and what do we need to shed in order to transform who we are? What do we need to let go of and what do we need to hang on to. Fall is the time to take risks, dream big, listen to our souls and follow the ever changing direction of the wind in order to flourish. The mighty oak starts very small but it doesn't put restrictions on itself. It grows as tall and as wide as the environment allows. So do we.  We are only as big as our dreams. Let fall usher in the greatness you have been waiting for.

Rise

You can only come to the morning through the shadows.
~J.R.R. Tolkien

Rise
With every new day comes a new chance to rise.
Rise from challenges.
Rise from monotony.
Rise from sorrow.
Rise from defeat.
Rise from heartbreak.
Rise from disappointments.
Rise from excuses.
Rise from blame.
Rise from mistakes.
Rise from shame.

Like the Phoenix, you were meant to keep rising. Never doubt that for a moment. Today is a new day to start again. Rise!

Reflection

The 9/11 Memorial Wall at Suffolk County Community College, Selden Campus

Reflection
Today is a day to reflect.
To remember.
To honor those lost.
To remember the acts of bravery.
To remember the acts of kindness.
To thank those who gave everything.
To forgive.
To look up and feel the wind.
To hug your loved ones a little bit tighter.
To say thank you ~ and really mean it.
To remember to do better.
To be gentler.
To give more than you take.

We will never forget...

Hello My Name Is

You don't have a soul.  You are a Soul.  You have a body.
~C.S. Lewis

Hello My Name Is
Most of us run around every day trying to complete tasks, check off our to-do-list or strive for goals that we set for ourselves.  We are on autopilot because we know that and it's comfortable.  But why are we striving for all of these "things".  Is it because we want them or because society or family/friends tell us we should want them?  Why are we pursuing these dreams and goals - what are we really looking for?  Have we ever stopped to ask ourselves the bigger question - who are we?

See, if you know who you are, the rest will follow.  When you flip it the other way around, you will always be searching for "something" because anything you obtain will not feel like it's filling the hole you feel in your gut.  You have to fill the hole by feeling whole.  The only way to do that is to do the work!  Get to know who you are; all of your likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, beliefs and values. What makes you, well you?  You are more than just a name.  You are more than just a career.  You are more than the person taking up space in a classroom.  You are more than your job.  Take that all away and you are still you!  Get grounded in who you truly are and watch your dreams become focused and doorways open up.

As Mufasa said in the Lion King to Simba, … remember who you are.

Your Body

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live.
~Jim Rohn

Your Body
Your Body is a wondrous carrier in which you travel through the world but most of us do not treat it with the care that it deserves.  If you truly listen to it and know it well, it can be your greatest teacher. It will let you know what's working and what's not in your life.  But you have to listen to it and not ignore it for if you do, it can only take so much before you will find yourself in pain, at the doctors or living off medication in order to keep it thriving. It deserves more - you deserve more.  No more excuses, nor more putting it off, no more well after this one meal…it's time to start treating your body with the utmost respect and care.  Drink more water.  Eat more real food.  Stop going through the drive through. Stop caffeinating yourself just to make it through the day.  Start going to bed earlier.  Stop hitting the snooze button more than twice. Eat to live, don't live to eat.  Make the changes that you know you should and you have been putting off.  Don't wait until your body erupts with problems, give it a chance to carry you through strong, vibrant and healthy.

Beyond Understanding

We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.
~Kenji Miyazawa

Beyond Understanding
Some things in life are beyond our understanding. Although we try to comprehend the meaning of it all, it's hard to wrap our heads around the totality of life and even more so in the loss of those whom we love or have touched our lives in a profound way. If we allow ourselves to get stuck in the grief though, we miss the gifts these souls provided.  We miss the lessons they were sent to teach. We miss the whole meaning of why they were put in our lives. We must feel the sadness and walk through the grief but we must also allow room to hear their voice, room to smile when memories come flooding in, room to laugh and room to continue to love.

Easy Does It

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.
~Douglas Pagels, These Are the Gifts I'd Like to Give to You

Easy Does It
It's time to slow down a bit. You have been going a mile a minute lately and now this is your sign to say easy does it to yourself!  Everyone needs to recharge, to rest, to reinvigorate. This is your time to do just that. This does not mean that you are not productive, it just means you need to more selective, more intentionally and not so rushed. Spend some time in reflection or in silence. Reconnect back to your soul, ground yourself and allow your body and your mind the much needed time to process everything that's been happening in your world. When you allow yourself this time of introspection and rest, you will see things more clearer.

Look Up

God puts rainbows in the clouds so that each of us — in the dreariest and most dreaded moments — can see a possibility of hope.
~Maya Angelou

Look Up
Life can get overwhelming. Sometimes there is too much that happens all at once that makes us feel like we will burst open from worry, stress and sadness. And in those moments it's so hard to be grateful. It's so hard to see the positive when our hearts are aching and our minds are racing. But it's in those moments that we need to look up, literally, for there are signs all around us letting us know that we will be ok. It's so easy to miss these signs if we only look down, if we decide not to pay attention to those around us and if we shut ourselves off from the world. Life can be hard but it's also balancing. It will give us just enough to keep pushing ahead until the storm settles, until the clouds start to disappear, until the lightening and thunder are in the distance and all that is left is a beautiful rainbow ushering in a new beginning.

Truth

There's a world of difference between truth and facts. Facts can obscure truth. ~Maya Angelou

Truth
As the old saying goes, the truth shall set you free so it's time to live in your truth, not someone else's.  What is it you want to be doing and why aren't you doing it? What advice do you give to other people that you should be listening to yourself? If you get real honest with yourself and go deep, you can no longer hide from the truth ~ and nor should you! You can't grow unless you get honest. You can''t find true peace unless you get honest. You will continue to chase happiness instead of letting it fill you up. Being honest with yourself is the key to unlocking your potential. It is also the key to all of your interactions and relationships. The more honest you are, the more freedom you gain.

Your Purpose

Your Purpose

"If you're not uncomfortable, you're not growing"

Just when you think you have your life figured out, wham - you get that feeling deep inside your soul that this isn't quite it. You take a deep breath because you know what that means, change is coming! You start feeling the longing that there is something more meant for your life, that there is a bigger vision for you.  But how the heck do you get there? How do you know what steps you need to be taking when you're not quite sure where you are headed? That's when you let go and let the universe in. There is a far bigger vision for your life then you could have ever imagined but you have to let go of the steering wheel. Pay attention to the signs all around you, to your dreams while you sleep and to the people who come into your life with information. Your next steps are being presented to you but you are not seeing them because you're too busy looking for the answer!  We are all here because there is a purpose for each and every single one of us. Our lives are like a beautiful painting that with every moment, every day, every year fills in the picture more and more. It's ok to be uncomfortable in the "not knowing" what to do next ~ that means your about to grow tenfold. Keep your eyes and soul open, keep a very loose grip of control and remember you can always look up and ask for guidance.  You will get it and maybe not in the way you expected but boy will you get it and most likely it will be far greater than expected.

Dreams

What some folks call impossible, is just stuff they haven't seen before.
~Chris Nielsen, Robin Williams character in What Dreams May Come

Dreams
How many times have you woken up from a dream and said to yourself, I wonder what that meant or that your dream was so real it didn't seem like a dream at all.  That's because your dreams are the pathway to receiving guidance and messages to help you navigate through your journey here on Earth.  How often do you dismiss your dreams and just ignore the experience because you don't quite understand. If you want to connect to your life purpose, to listening to your soul for guidance on what pathway to choose next, then start taking your dreams as the lessons they are meant to be.  When you wake in the morning, write them down.  You might not see the meaning at first but it's like a puzzle and the more you put the puzzle pieces together, that's when you start to see the whole picture.  Use your dreams to help you and you will find that the guidance you have been seeking has been right with you all along.

I'm Sorry

To free us from the expectations of others, to give us back to ourselves -
there lies the great, singular power of self-respect.
~Joan Didion

I'm Sorry
How many times do you say I'm sorry or hear that phrase in a single day? Too many! We tend to say I'm sorry or apologize for things that are so unnecessary like when we ask for help or need assistance and then end it by saying I'm sorry. When we have a great idea and share it with someone and then say oh but it's nothing. When we add in these type of phrases, we demoralize ourselves. We have a voice and deserve for it to be heard. We take up space and deserve to walk around with pride and confidence. We are here to share our gifts, not to shrink them.  We need to stop apologizing for being alive, having thoughts and living our truths. That's what makes us live a purposeful life. So catch yourself before you say these phrases when they aren't necessary. Remember that we all matter. The more you share your voice and stay truthful to who your are in the world, the more your life will be balanced.

Teach

When you learn, teach.
When you get give.
~Maya Angelou

Teach
Usually the traditional classroom setting comes rushing to the forefront of your mind when you think of the word teach. Yet teaching occurs all around you, on many levels, all day long. Sometimes your greatest lessons are outside of the traditional setting. That's where you learn who you are, what you are capable of and if you are vulnerable enough, you get to unleash your potential. Just as you have many "teachers" in your life, you are also one . There are people you are connected to that look up to you, that model your behavior. What are you teaching them? Are you teaching how to congruent with what you say and what you do?  Are you teaching to dream big and look at failures as lessons along the way? Are you teaching how to stop and reflect so that you grow from your experiences? Are you teaching how to love? Recognize that teaching is reciprocal. We learn just as much as we teach but you have to be aware of both so know what you teach and teach what you know!

Angels

Photo by Mary Lally - one of my Earth Angels

The wings of angels are often found on the backs of the least likely people.
~Eric Honeycutt

Angels
You are surrounded by angels. Every day, in every single step you take, you are surrounded by love, support and joy. You may not be able to see them but if you allow yourself to sit still for a moment, you can feel their presence. You are also surrounded by other types of angels and those you are fortunate enough to be able to see. Sometimes these angels come in the form of your friends, family members, loved ones, teachers, children, pets or even strangers that you meet for only a brief moment in time. These "earth angels" are also supporting and guiding you. You can usually tell who they are right away. There is an instant deep connection to something which you can't explain. They see right into your soul and understand in a moment what you need. Your Earth Angels can be your greatest teachers if you open yourself up to the possibility that there is still a lot to learn! It is usually in your most challenging times that they are right beside you or sometimes they themselves come carrying the lesson. Take some time today to look at those people in your life that are your guides, that keep you balanced, that help put things into perspective and that provide you unconditional love. Recognize the angels you can see...and then stop for a moment and realize that you just may be somebody's earth angel too.

You Are Your Thoughts

You and I are not what we eat; we are what we think
~Walter Anderson, The Confidence Course, 1997

You Are Your Thoughts

Your words and actions shape who you are but your thoughts ultimately define your life.

  • If you say that you are not a good person, well you will be true to that thought.
  • If you say you are not good with money then you will never be financially sound.
  • If you say you only get into bad relationships, you will keep repeating this pattern.
  • If you say "why does this always happen to me", well guess what? - It will.
  • If you say I can't lose the weight, then you won't.
It's that simple yet that profound. You are your thoughts. When you think about what you don't have or what you perceive yourself as lacking, you will be stuck in that pattern because that's what you are allowing into your life. Starting your thoughts with, I wish I had, I wish I was, If only sets up your thoughts pattern to be negative and focused on what you don't have. Well if you focus on that, guess what?  You won't have it!

By practicing daily affirmations, you can start to change these patterns and thus change your life. Some  simple yet powerful affirmations you can repeat any time of the day are:
  • I am safe and secure
  • My life is full of abundance
  • My body is healthy and in balance
  • I release the patterns that no longer serve my higher purpose
  • My future is bright and full of love
  • I love & I am love
You want to change you life - change your thoughts!

Meditation

Meditation is not something that should be done in a particular position at a particular time. It is an awareness and an attitude that must persist throughout the day.
~Annamalai Swami

Meditation
You always here how wonderful meditation is. Yet if you are like most people, the thought of sitting crossed legs, palms up and in silence for 20 minutes may seem utterly impossible. But what if meditation can occur in many different ways? What if it's the 20 minutes walk you have with your dog in the morning or evening? What if it's being present and really enjoying cooking for yourself or your family? What if your meditation is writing a blog? Meditation is the act of being present and aware in the moment; getting the voice in your head to turn off and your instinct to turn on. It's the peace that you can find drinking a cup of coffee outside on your patio while the sun is rising. Meditation can happen in many forms, you just need to recognize the right fit for you and make sure that's something you put more of into your daily life. It may also mean being able to sit in the lotus position for 30 minutes uninterrupted by yourself or anyone else. By recognizing what brings you closer to who you are and gives you inner peace throughout the day, that is our form of meditation. Start there. Recognize that and then you can expand, if you want to, to try it in other forms. The more aware you become, the more you usher in peace into your daily life.

A Mother's Love

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.
~Jewish Proverb

A Mother's Love
Today is day where we honor those special women in our lives that are mom's. A mother's love is like no other:

It has no bounds.
It's a safe place to fall.
It's a healing touch.
It's a daily call.

It's a heartfelt exchange.
It's a playful smile.
It's a loving hello.
It doesn't matter the miles.

It's a deep connection.
It's twinkle in the eye.
It's an unspoken bond.
It's never goodbye.

Wishing all the beautiful women in my life a blessed Mother's Day!
