Control
There are few things in life we actually have any real control over. Actually, there is only one thing in life we have any real control over and if you guessed right, yes that would be you! Although we would like to believe we have control over more than just ourselves, the truth of the matter (and something you know at your core) is that we have zero control over anything outside of ourselves. It's a hard pill to digest at times but once you can fully embrace this, once you stop trying to control everything that swirling around you all the time (kids, spouse, pets, family, friends, colleagues, your boss, etc.) you will find that there is this shift that happens, almost like a stillness and peace, that suddenly grounds you to life. You feel connected more than before. You have more time to concentrate on yourself since you are not filling it up with worrying about or trying to manage others. People are going to people, whether they take your advice or not (and 9 times out of 10 they like to do the opposite of what you suggest anyway). So you've just spent all this time, worry, and angst over them when you ultimately can't control what they do ... but you can control you. You can control what you allow in your life, what give your time and attention to, who you allow in your circle, etc. How empowering is that! How much time did you just give yourself back? Try it today and see how your day unfolds as you stop managing others and start only managing yourself.
