Lately it seems that you can't turn the TV on without seeing some kind of award show.  Actors, singers,  directors, writers and the like spend this time of year celebrating the best in their respective fields.  But what about all of the other heros in their fields like the best teachers, advisors, doctors, partners, parents, etc.  No, there may never be an actual awards show for these categories but that doesn't mean we can't honor all of the people in our own lives that make us better.  Let's all take some time to say thank you to those who have cared for us, loved us, shared with us, supported us, healed us, laughed with us and gave us an open door to walk through.  They deserve an award and even if it's not a trophy, a simple acknowledgement of how they made our lives better will certainly brighten theirs.
