Working On It

How often in life we complete a task
that was beyond the capability of the person
we were when we started it.
~Robert Brault

Working On It
There is a lot going on in your life that you are currently working on.  You are juggling several things at once and have been for a very long time but now is the time to bring some of those situations to a finality.  You can't move forward or bring newness into your life when it's cluttered with all of the old unfinished "stuff".  So resolve today to bring what you can to a close.  Start making way, today, for the space in your life that is much needed so that wonderful new things can come in.

Trust

I think we may safely trust a good deal more than we do.
~Henry David Thoreau

Trust
For some of us, letting go enough to trust a situation or another person is so unsettling.  We feel that if we don't have a say or some sort of control, our lives will spin out of control.  Maybe we need to try something different though since holding on tight doesn't seem to be working.  Maybe we need to loosen up a bit and trust that it will work out if we only get out of the way.  Trusting can be hard but the more we learn to step aside, the more life can come in or bring that person in to make it that much better!

The State of Your Life

Excellence is not a skill.  It is an attitude.
~Ralph Marston

The State of Your Life
Tonight the President of the United State gave his 3rd State of Union Address.  It's his time to let the nation know where our nation stands.  Maybe it's time we do the same thing with our own lives.  Maybe it's time for us to do our own assessment and get honest with the state of our own lives.  Take off the tunnel vision, clear away the smoke and mirrors and take a long hard look at each area of your life.  What's working well?  What's not going so well?  What have you perfected?  What have you not been diligent with?  Getting real with the state of your life means that you can actually improve your it for the better.  By knowing where you are, you can move forward and leave what's not working in the past where it belongs.

What You Really Want

When you re-read a classic you do not see
in the book more than you did before.
You see more in you than there was before.
~Clifton Fadiman

What You Really Want
The question of "what do you really want" in terms of your job, relationships, living situations, environments, friendships, etc. is what we are all trying to figure out.  We think we are happy or satisfied and yet sometimes there is still a yearning for something greater, something more fulfilling.  Most of us stuff aside this feeling and just keep plugging along because we feel somewhat stable and secure with what we currently have or where we are.  But then I ask, is this what you truly want?  Deep down inside, does it feel right or do you feel that burning that there is more?  If you do, it's time to address that emotion.  In a quiet environment say the statement to yourself, "what I really want is....." and fill in the blanks.  Don't limit yourself.  See what your inner self comes up with and then...well get ready!  Soon it will be time to turn your statement into your new reality.

Human Carpet

Everyone thinks of changing the world,
but no one thinks of changing himself.
~Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

Human Carpet
Has anyone ever referred to you as a human carpet?  You know, you let people walk all over you or take advantage of your kindness.  Are you that person?  Do you feel the need to come to the rescue of everyone that comes across your path, whether they have asked for your help or not?  If so, it's time to stop.  When we are so engrossed in someone else's life, it means we don't want to face our own "stuff" that's going on.  We can bury ourselves into something that has nothing to do with us and isn't that convenient.  We say we are helping others, and in some cases that might be true, but we are also allowing our own lives to be put on hold.  Well how about we start to fix us first!  Now there's a concept! Put as much energy into you as you do others and maybe even more.  Understand that the best way to help someone else is to model the way.  If you are living your best life, you will inspire others to do the same.  If you are eating right and taking care of yourself, others will follow.  Our actions always speak louder than our words.  So if we are telling someone else how to "fix" themselves yet we are in a mess as well, that does not show them another way.  Make a resolution for the upcoming months to concentrate on you and getting your life where you want it to be.  Then go and help others do the same.

How You View Things

Be careful how you interpret the world: It is like that.
~Erich Heller

How You View Things
Life is all about how you view things.  More often than not we only view it from out limited perspective.  We see it through what either other people have told us (and we believe them) or from our own experiences.  That doesn't always give us the broadest perspective though.  It is our responsibility to broaden our own thinking, expand upon our own tunnel vision and to break apart the preconceived notions we have built about others.  Life is all about how you view things.  Don't limit your vision.  Don't limit your experiences.  For if you do, you might just be missing out on seeing the bigger vision.

Care for Yourself

In order to change we must be sick and tired of being sick and tired.
~Author Unknown

Care for Yourself
You always take care of everyone else before your own needs.  You help out even when you have nothing left to give.  But is that wise?  If you are giving everything to everyone else, what's left for yourself?  Don't wear yourself down to the bone.  Don't put off your own needs and wants to take care of someone else's above your own all of the time.  Learn how to say no more than yes.  It might feel uncomfortable at first but your body, mind and soul will thank you for finally putting some attention where it matters most, to yourself!

Resolutions

Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
~Oprah Winfrey

Resolutions
It's a new year, 2012, and you might have a few resolutions up your sleeve.  Most of us start off the new year with motivation and full of steam but keeping up that feeling a month or two from now can be a bit of a challenge.  That's where you need to make sure along with resolutions, you have support.  Surround yourself with friends or family members that are working towards the same goals and help each other along the way.  We do not live on an island all by ourselves and with the right encouragement around you, you will be able to finally achieve your dreams.  This is your year to stop making excuses, to find the joy and happiness that's always been right inside of your soul and to just finally let go and live your best life ever!
