Values
We all have a set of values based on our life experiences. Our values shape our lives and help us make decisions throughout the day. But most of us go through life without really taking a look at what we value and why we value it. We also don't stop enough and think about if we are actually living a life that is congruent to what we say our values are. If I say that forging true connections with others is something I value, yet I post a nasty comment about a friend on Facebook for everyone to read instead of discussing the situation in private, is this staying true to my values? If I value that people do not gossip about me behind my back yet I run to the nearest person I know to divulge something juicy I just learned, is that being true to my values?
A lot of times it's a lot easier to say that we actually value something than to live that value. Today, take a long hard look at what your values are. Know what's important to you in this life. Assess how you are living your values and if you find there are inconsistencies, well this is the time to change that. By mirroring your values to your actions, you take a huge step closer to your true person within. It will make you walk much lighter, have meaningful relationships with everyone and give you a sense of peace throughout your day that you always wished for. Remember, values aren't just talking the talk, it's more about walking the walk! Let your actions mirror your words.
